Littleton Wins State Award for Downtown Signage

littleton wayfinding signThe City’s new downtown signage and wayfinding project has been named a winner of the 2016 Governor’s Awards for Downtown Excellence by Downtown Colorado, Inc. www.downtowncoloradoinc.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing Colorado’s downtown districts.

The organization recognized Littleton’s downtown sign project with its Governor’s Award for Downtown Excellence in the category of “Best New Addition to Downtown in a Large Community”. Recently installed signs topped with historic photos of Littleton direct drivers to downtown points of interest and include detailed maps to guide pedestrians. Historical properties are identified with signs in black, red and yellow with photos and written histories. Side-street signs point the way to retailers and restaurants. At Prince Street and Santa Fe Drive, stylized banners and a sign announcing the downtown area makes an eye-catching statement. All signs are lighted to create visibility at night.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the quality of projects nominated this year, and offer our congratulations to everyone who submitted projects this year” said Katherine Correll, Executive Director, Downtown Colorado, Inc. “Colorado communities, large and small, from the Western Slope to the Front Range, continue to demonstrate amazing creativity, dedication to the public good and resilience in the face of obstacles.”

This year’s winners will be honored at the 2016 Governor’s Awards Ceremony and Gala, on September 22, 2016 at the Rawlings Public Library in Pueblo, during DCI’s 2016 Annual Conference
