Ackerman and Sons furniture workshop, located at 2400 W. Belleview, is featured in the January/February 2018 issue of Colorado Biz magazine. In business for five generations, the company has been operating for 122 years. Started in 1895 by a German immigrant and master cabinetmaker, the company employs 27 craftspeople with locations in Littleton and Minneapolis. Customers trust Ackermans with loved and irreplaceable pieces, such as a 300 year old Louis XIV cabinet damaged in Hurricane Katrina currently waiting for repair and a liquor box, known as a cellarette, won by a customer’s ancestor from President Andrew Jackson in a poker game- but owner Mike Ackerman says these historic pieces are no more important than treasured family items. He finds his greatest reward comes from customers’ emotional responses when they see a family favorite restored or repaired. For Ackermans, there’s nothing like making a special piece of furniture new again.
