Tech spotlight for business: Google announces upgrades to Gmail and Maps

Our Economic Development team monitors tech news for information we think may be of interest to the business community. Today Google made several announcements at their annual developer conference, like an upgrade to Google Maps which overlays walking directions on top of your phone’s camera to show you which direction to head. Google Maps’ “For You” tab lets you choose to follow neighborhoods and dining spots and based on what is chosen, Google will send ideas for what to do the next time you want to go out.  The “Your match” feature will show you how likely you are to enjoy a place and provides reasons you will enjoy it. Soon Gmail users will have access to “Smart Compose” which actually writes emails. Here’s an overview of all the new Google features revealed at today’s conference.
